The Panola rodeo team competed at the Sam Houston State University college rodeo November 10-12, in Conroe.

The SHSU rodeo was the last competition for the Fall semester. The team had two individuals qualify for the short-round, which is the top 10 competitors with the highest scores or fastest times from the long-round.

Coach Dameon White said, "This was a major accomplishment, seeing as how there were 100 competitors in each event."

Khakie Jo Holland placed 5th in the long-round, 4th in the short-round, and finished 3rd in the average in the goat tying event. Jacob Marcell tied  for 7th and 8th in the long-round, and ended up tying for 7th and 8th in the average as well in the bull riding.

White said, "The Sam Houston rodeo was the only rodeo this semester to have a long-round as well as a short-round, so I am very happy that I had two team members progress to the short-round, and one who earned points in both rounds and the average."

The Panola rodeo men's team ended up 9th out of 14 competing schools for the semester, with Jacob Marcell sitting 4th and Austin Walock sitting 10th in the bull riding. Corey Fussell is sitting 12th in the saddle bronc riding, and Cody Coleman is sitting 13th in the steer wrestling. The Panola rodeo women's team is sitting 5th out of 12 competing schools after this semester with Khakie Jo Holland sitting 4th in the goat tying standings.

White said, "We can still make improvements, but as a whole I am very proud of the team after this semester, and we are really looking forward to next semester."
