Panola Rodeo team members placed fifth in a regional competition in Uvalde October 7-9.

The Uvalde event was sponsored by the Southern Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA). Sixteen teams from colleges and universities in the region competed, earning points in each event.

Jacob Marcell placed third in Bull Riding, earning Panola 107.0 points.

Austin Walock tied for fourth place in Bull Riding, gaining 78.5 points.

Panola's total points of 185.50 ranked them in fifth place. The next competition is Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 13-15, at Northeast Texas Community College in Mt. Pleasant.

Panola Rodeo Coach Dameon White said he was proud of his team for their efforts in Uvalde.

"With almost 50 bullriders competing in Uvalde, it's quite an accomplishment that Jacob and Austin finished third and fourth," said White.
