The race at both ends of Region XIV is heating up in the final weeks of the regular season.

Tyler came into Saturday's contest needing a win to claim second place and the Fillies came in needing a win to stay in the final playoff spot in the conference.

The first half was played with that kind of playoff intensity.  Each team traded runs and the lead.  Ariel Billington started the scoring on the first possession hitting a three-pointer and the fast-paced first frame was on.  Tyler responded with some sharp shooting of their own and some solid inside play.  The Fillies answered the challenge in the paint in the first half with strong play from Tatsiana Zhurauliova.  At the break, Tyler managed to lead by only 6, 36-30.

With Billington and Zhurauliova scoring, the Fillies were unable to find a third scorer in the second half to match the proficient Lady Apaches.  Tyler continue to play well in all areas and finished the game  on a 38-15 run.  It turned an 8 point game midway through the half to a comfortable home win 84-53.

Tatsiana Zhurauliova had her best offensive game of the season for the Fillies leading them with 17 points.  Ariel Billington finished with 11 points.

The Fillies host their final home of the season Wednesday night against Trinity Valley.
