The Ponies started strong in two double-headers against NTCC and Navarro. Panola won the first game of their double-headers but lost both final games in extra innings. In the first match-up against NTCC, pitcher Cory Boutilier recorded the win because of strong offensive play by the Ponies. In the fourth inning, NTCC was ahead 7-5, but Brock Vinson came out strong, hitting 3 for 3 and earning two RBIs. Kameron Walker also batted 2 for 3, scoring three runs. Relief pitcher Blake Ware replaced Boutilier on the mound in the fifth inning, shutting out the NTCC team. Ware had three strikeouts, one walk and allowed two hits. Boutilier allowed seven runs on six hits and had two strikeouts and two walks in the first four innings on the mound. Ponies won 10-7. In game two, Jeff Stringer pitched six shutout innings, allowing only four hits. Stringer struck out two and walked five. Daniel Cloteaux relieved Stringer in the seventh and the NTCC Eagles scored two runs in the eighth to tie the game 2-2. Still tied at the end of regulation play, the game went into the tenth inning, and NTCC scored two runs. Weldon Davis relieved Cloteaux on the mound for the final two outs. The Ponies scored two runs on six hits in game two. Hits are credited to Ryan Westbrook, Evan Mistich, Jason Barton and Austin Vaughan, with Barton and John Alexander scoring. The Ponies traveled to Texarkana for a double-header with Navarro College, winning game one 6-5 and losing game two 7-6. Paul Barton was the starting pitcher, followed by Daniel Cloteaux who took the mound in the fifth and closed out the game. Kameron Walker scored three of Panola's six runs, and hit a double and a triple. After Navarro took the lead 4-0 after two innings in game two, the Ponies tied it up 4-4 in the third, and took a 6-4 lead in the fifth. A strong rally by Navarro in the bottom of the ninth tied up the game 6-6 and the Bulldogs scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the tenth to win. Westbrook batted 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Evan Mistich was 2 for 4 with a double and a triple. Brock LeBlanc and J. Barton also earned base hits and hit triples, scoring two runs on each triple. The Ponies are ranked 17th in the NJCAA top 25 poll. The Ponies will host Texarkana College Saturday at Jim Reeves Memorial Field. Game one starts at 1 p.m.
