Faculty got served a crushing defeat against the Fillies.

On  Thursday, April 22, 2010, the faculty decided to take on the Fillies in a fundraiser event, supporting the Fillies.

Taking one (or twelve, or fifty-seven) for the team, Krystn Davis, former Fillies volleyball player, and New York native Brian Naples, dove several times in an attempt to get the ball back into a volley, unfortunately failing.

The faculty team (named “Old School” by Filly and game announcer, Laura Pepper) had an advantage in having both of the Panola volleyball coaches, two basketball coaches, an athletic director and a former volleyball player on their team. However, these advantages just weren’t enough to stop the power of the Fillies.

Athletic Director and player on team Old School, Don Clinton, kept upping the ante on the Fillies, giving challenges such as “I’ll donate more money to your cause if you only hit with your left hand” and, “you have to serve the ball using your head.” The challenge was fun and exciting for the Fillies. During a player swap Dr. Powell was escorted off the court in style by fellow team member, Steve Williams.

At the end of the match, Brian Naples, in a fearless attempt to save the game for “Old School”, missed the ball on game point. The Fillies defeated our courageous faculty, but in a very sportsman-like way.

Faculty: Van Patterson, Brian Naples, Krystn Davis, Tracy Stellato, Don Clinton, Steve Williams, Whitney Edens, Christina Landbright, Andrew Talley, Dr, Gregory Powell, Jill Boyd, (not pictured) Nicole McCray Thorn.

Fillies: Dena Busse, Bridget Joines, Natalie Craven, Courtnee Davis, Magda Dos Santos, Haley Williams, and Meagan Little
