Fillies Sophomores (lt to rt): Samantha Peterson, Marcela Alves, Vanessa Gomes, and Josie Santos

Panola College Volleyball is proud to announce that four student athletes from this year’s sophomore class will be continuing their education and playing careers at universities this fall. 

Samantha Peterson will be attending Texas Southern University in Houston on a full volleyball scholarship. The sophomore middle blocker from Desoto, TX was a consistent contributor for the Fillies this season, hammering home 127 kills on the year and averaging .54 blocks per set. Her 11 kills and 2 blocks were instrumental in the region semi-final win over Tyler Junior College. Her efforts earned her All-Conference Honorable Mention honors for Region XIV, District K. For her leadership efforts, Peterson also served as a quad-captain for the Fillies in 2011. Peterson will continue her career as a TSU Lady Tiger under the direction of Head Coach Jocelyn Adams. Texas Southern is a NCAA Division I institution competing in the Southwest Athletic Conference (SWAC).
