Panola's brutal road schedule took its toll on the Fillies Jan. 20.

The Blinn Lady Buccaneers came out on Wednesday, Jan. 20, and shot lights out in their 67-53 victory over Panola.

Blinn came out on fire, hitting two threes and free throws for an 8-0 lead early. The Fillies responded with a balanced attack and cut the lead to one at 13-12. From there, the game settled into a defensive battle. Blinn hit the glass hard and led at the break by 10, 32-22.

The first four minutes of the second half decided the game as Blinn used a quick spurt to jump to an 18-point lead, 46-28. Panola continued to work at it, but could only cut it to the final margin of 14.

Shea Reed led the Fillies in scoring with 11 points.

Through a quirk in the schedule, the Fillies and Ponies must hit the road every Wednesday afternoon for away games. These games are mostly with the teams that are located farthest from Carthage. A three or four-hour bus trip makes it especially tough for the athletes to perform.
