The Fillies basketball team fell to Jacksonville in a hard-fought game Saturday.

Alicia Mitcham scored 18 points and Ariel Billington added 15 for the Fillies but it wasn't enough for the win.

Jacksonville prevailed in a tough ball game with neither team leading by more than 9 points the whole way.

In the first half, each team traded buckets in a tough defensive struggle.  Every time the Fillies would try to pull away, Jacksonville would respond and their final flurry of the first half closed the scoring at 31-28 Panola.

In the second half, the Fillies put a solid stretch of basketball together.  A quick spurt midway through the second frame gave Panola a 50-43 lead.  Jacksonville responded after a timeout and behind timely three point shooting, they tied the game at 58 with five minutes remaining.

From there, Jacksonville made some key defensive stops and hit their free throws to seal the four point win, 70-66.
