Using these tips will reduce campus crime this semester

Here's a list of top ten DO's and DON'Ts for campus safety.

Vehicles.
1. Make sure you park in a well-lit area.
2. If you see a suspicious person or vehicle in the parking lot, report it to campus police immediately.
3. Keep your vehicle locked and your windows completely rolled up.
4. Never leave keys in the ignition while unattended.
5. Hide your spare keys on your person, not in or under the car.
6. Never leave valuables in sight. Cover them with a jacket or lock them in your trunk.
7. Park correctly and straight as possible to avoid dents and fender bumps.
8. If possible, park where you can see your car from the building or dorm room.
9. Consider installing a car alarm system.
10. Last but not least, never leave your car running while you're gone, even for a moment.

Dorm Room
1. Keep your dorm room door and windows locked at all times, even when you're in it.
2. Report faulty locks on windows and doors to your Residence Administrator.
3. Lock up all of your valuables. Remember, it's your room, but others may have access to it as well.
4. Do not put your name on your keyring. If thieves find your keys, they will know where to break in.
5. If you think your belongings have been tampered with, consult your roommates; if they didn't do it, contact campus police.
6. Do not allow strangers in your dorm room.
7. Invest in a small lock box or safe and hide the key where NO ONE knows but you.
8. Keep cash, check books, debit cards, and credit cards with you at all times or lock them up in a safe.
9. Wear flip-flops in the community shower. You never know what you're stepping on.
10. Last but not least, never give your room key to someone else, even to keep for a short time.

Use these lists and help reduce the opportunity for more campus crime.
