Who wants to hold an alligator?

Panola College Caddo Club and guests from the Social Modern Asian Culture Club visited Gators and Friends at Greenwood, LA on Friday, Nov. 4.  Students attending were Kaylee Smith, Bree Morgan, Caleshia Summers, Andrew Eberlan, Jeremy Gressman, Bianca Walton.  They were accompanied by Darrell Hudson, Becky Gullette and Jason Gilbert.

Because of the recent cool weather, Gators and Friends staff did not put on a "Feeding Frenzy Show" with the alligators.

"This was to let the ectothermic animals adapt to the cooler weather by maintaining a reduced state of activity," Gullette explained.

Panola students did get a chance to hold a baby alligator and were able to see many large alligators in their respective ponds.  Students also were allowed to feed and pet a number of exotic animals including African pygmy goats, fallow deer, spotted deer, llamas, and ostriches.  They viewed but did not touch camel, coatimundi, and capybara. Go to the Gators and Friends Photo Gallery to see more photos.

After the afternoon, students celebrated Jeremy Gressman's birthday at the Sonic in Greenwood. Randy Graves and the Office of Student Activities provided support of this trip.
