Larry Brumley was a man of music.

The Panola College Chorale and Pipers paid tribute to the former college chorale director with a memorial concert on Tuesday, April 26. Sponsored by the Department of Fine Arts, the concert featured a choral benediction composed by Brumley entitled, "The Lord Bless You and Keep You."

Claire Windham and Sarah Baker spoke about their memories of Brumley and how his love of music impacted their lives.

The program included sacred and secular pieces including, "Sing to the Lord," "Agnus Dei," "May the Mind of Christ My Savior," "Turn Back O Man," "Thou Knowest, Lord, the Secrets of Our Hearts," and "The King of Love My Shepherd Is." The last two pieces were performed during a memorial slide show of highlights from Brumley's career at Panola College.

The Panola Pipers performed "When I Fall in Love," "Not While I'm Around," "Slap That Bass," Goodnight, My Someone," "Singin' in the Rain," "The Way You Look Tonight," and "Johnny One Note."

A reception following the concert was hosted by the Carthage Music Club.

Chorale members include sopranos Katt Conaway of Lufkin; Sara Haire of Shreveport; Jennifer Langford of Carthage; Karin Kiper of Carthage; Jana Miller of Jacksonville; Megan Morrison of Jacksonville and Michelle White of Carthage.

Alto singers include Mary Allen of Gilmer; Kamie Stockwell of Carthage; Angelica Hernandez of Henderson; Rochunda Wilson of Jefferson; Haley Patterson of Carthage; Bethanie Goodman of Ferriday, La. and Britaria Roberson of Marshall.

Tenors include Hennessy Jones of Shreveport; Alberto Guerra of Carthage; Josue Torres of Carthage; Jason Hill of Carthage and Rudolph Johnson of Marshall.

Bass singers include Levi Duncan of Carthage; Will Foster of Gladewater, Reese Monroe of Center; Spencer Tutt of Nacogdoches and Austin Durham of Carthage.

Singing in the Panola Pipers were Haire, Miller, Hernandez, Goodman, Guerra, Hill, Foster and Dr. John Petzet, chorale director.
