netLibrary Tutorial

netLibrary™ is the most comprehensive collection of online books (ebooks) and resource materials available.  Using netLibrary, you can access a wide range of scholarly and reference materials entirely online.  netLibrary is as easy to use.  The eBooks can be viewed online from any computer connected to the Internet.  You can view eBooks for 15 minutes for quick reference or check them out for a longer period of time.  You don't have to worry about returning them - eBooks are automatically returned at the end of your checkout period.


Getting Started

You may browse, search or view eBooks as an Anonymous user - no login is required.  Creating a PATRON account on an authorized PC on the Panola College campus will allow you to browse, search, view and check out eBooks.  Once you create your account you may then use your Patron account to log in from any computer with Internet access.

 


To create a netLibrary account:

  1. Click Create an Account.
  2. Enter your identifying information, including user name and email address.
  3. Click Subscribe

Creating a new account automatically logs you in to netLibrary.

 

 


Logging In

You must log in to netLibrary using your Patron account to borrow eBooks.  Once your account is created you may log in from any computer with Internet access.

To Log in:

  1. Enter your username and password on the netLibrary main navigation panel.

  2. Click LOG IN.

 


Now you are logged in and ready to search.

Performing a Search

Quick Search allows you to quickly locate an eBook by searching keywords, author, title or subject.

  1. Select the Basic Search option  on the main navigation panel.

  2. Enter search text.

  3. Click Search.

 

 


Advanced Search allows you to search multiple fields, including title, author and keywords.  The more information you enter, the more precise the results.

  1. Click ADVANCED SEARCH on the netLibrary main navigation panel.

  2. Enter search text
    + Text entered in the Title, Author or Keywords fields searches the card catalog.
    + Text entered in the Full Text field searches the full text of all eBooks.

  3. Click Search.

       


Viewing an eBook

You may view an eBook without logging in to netLibrary, but only for 15 minutes.  You will be allowed an additional 15 minutes if no other netLibrary member has requested the eBook.

To view an eBook:

  1. Locate the eBook you want to view.

  2. Click the eBook title to display the eBook Information page.

  3. Click the View this book icon.

 

 


You must be logged in to netLibrary to borrow an eBook.  Once you have checked out an eBook you have exclusive access to the eBook.  Your library determines the checkout period.  The eBook is automatically checked in when the checkout period expires.
