Panola College Recognizes Honor Students

Panola College recognized the new fall 2008 initiates into the Pi Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa in a ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 2 in the Sid Baker Turner Memorial Chapel on the Carthage campus.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is an international honor fraternity that recognizes junior and community college students who have attained high scholastic achievements. Membership is by invitation to those who qualify. Learning, society and service activities are scheduled throughout the year. PTK students are recognized during commencement ceremonies by the wearing of honor cords along with their caps and gowns.

Fall initiates into the Panola College chapter include Ronald Barbee, Dallas; Kelita Bryand, Stanton; Cassandra Gale, Marshall; Dawn Kennedy, Carthage; Tony Pearson, Marshall; Katie Ross, Seattle, Wash.; Jake Slone, Waskom; Arden Stone, Lickskillet, and Jessica Thompson, Center.

Officers for 2008-2009 are Lindsey Lacy of Marshall, president; Brian Smith of Marshall, vice president; Lynn Kincheloe of Carthage, secretary/treasurer; Katie Dugie of Yorktown, reporter; and Stephanie Jones of Mt. Enterprise, Student Government Association Representative.
