PANOLA COLLEGE RECEIVES $250,000 GIFT
Carthage, Texas, January 8, 2008– Panola College is a beneficiary of a generous bequest under the will of Mrs. Ida Rose Dietert Moore, deceased. Mrs. Moore was born November 6, 1919 in Kerrville, Texas. She was the daughter of Henry F. and Clara Real Dietert, a pioneer family. She married Mr. C.E. Moore, Jr. from Carthage on October 20, 1956. Shortly thereafter they moved to Carthage and resided there until 1979 when they moved back to Mrs. Moore’s hometown of Kerrville in retirement. Mrs. Moore’s activism in cultural enrichment was well known. She was a member of various civic organizations, including the Carthage Book Club and the Carthage Music Club. Mrs. Moore was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Carthage, Texas.
Mr. David Murphy, Vice-President and Trust Officer of First State Bank and Trust Company of Carthage, Texas, and Executor of Mrs. Moore’s estate stated, “Mrs. Moore left her estate, worth over one and a half million dollars, to six different charitable and educational institutions, two of which are fortunately located in Carthage.”
Dr. Gregory S. Powell, President of Panola College, expressed, “Panola College is very grateful for Mrs. Moore’s bequest to our scholarship fund. This will enable the College to endow scholarships for many future Panola College students.” Mr. Van Patterson, Executive Director of Institutional Advancement added, “Mrs. Moore’s legacy will be one of generosity and concern for the future of Panola College and the citizens it serves.”
Mr. Corey Bankhead, Attorney for Mrs. Moore’s estate stated “Mrs. Moore passed away shortly after the death of her husband. Mr. and Mrs. Moore’s estates were quite sizable and diversified. The patience exhibited by the beneficiaries of Mrs. Moore’s will in awaiting their bequest has been greatly appreciated, and I know such will now be put to worthy use.”
Mr. Corey Bankhead, Attorney for the Estate of Mrs. Ida Rose Dietert Moore, and Mr. David Murphy, Vice-President and Trust Officer of the First State Bank and Trust Company, Inc. and Executor of the Estate, present a check for $250,000 to Dr. Gregory Powell and Mr. Van Patterson.
