Panola College faculty members recognized
The Panola College Board of Trustees recognized three Panola College faculty members who received Excellence in Teaching Awards. Mr. Freddy Mason, Ms. Norma Lawless, and Mr. Charles Moore were chosen by their peers to represent Panola College at the National Institute for Staff and Organization Development (NISOD) in Austin in May.
At NISOD the Panola Faculty representatives will be recognized with an Excellence in Teaching medal and will be featured in the NISOD printed program. The conference is recognized both nationally and globally.
Dr. Lillian Cook, Vice President and Dean of Instruction, stated, “We wanted to recognize excellence in teaching and to reward those who exhibit it. Our division chairs and their departmental staff were charged with helping select faculty who reflected the hallmarks of excellence: rigorous curriculum, a caring attitude and willingness to go the extra mile to help students, good retention, and respect from their students. These three faculty members rose to the top of the nominations.”
Mr. Mason teaches Speech and has taught full-time at Panola College since 1994. Ms. Lawless teaches Office Systems Technology and has been at Panola College for 35 years. Mr. Moore, a mathematics professor, has taught at Panola College since 1993. All three are loved by students and respected by their colleagues.
