Panola College Faculty Association to Present 2nd Annual Gospel Show

On February 2, the Panola College Faculty Association will host their 2nd annual “Gospel Show.” The show will feature the talents of the “Blessed Country Praise Band” and local attorney and musician, Mike Parker.

“Last year’s show was well received, and this year’s is promising to be even better,” said Professor Don Cocklin. “The Blessed Country Praise Band will be performing a lot of good ol’ gospel music with a honky tonk twang.” Members of the band include Don Cocklin, Bruce James, Richard and Jan Almand, Bubba McAlister and David Lanicek. The Almands and Bubba McAlister also play with the local country band, “Pure Country.”

“In addition to the Blessed Country Praise Band, Mr. Mike Parker will also be performing. Mr. Parker is a very talented musician with a beautiful singing voice,” said Cocklin. “Mike often performs original music and is always a crowd favorite.”

The evening will begin with a meal served at 6:00 pm in the college cafeteria, located in the Phoebe Sue Perlman Student Center. The show will begin at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $15 for both the meal and show or $6 for the show only. Tickets may be purchased from College faculty members or by calling Don Cocklin at 903-693-2045. Tickets for the show can also be purchased at the door on the night of the performance.

Funds raised at this event will be added to the Panola Faculty Association endowed scholarship. Established in 2000 under the leadership of Professor Freddy Mason, the scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Panola College student.
