Students and others interested in the Panola College courses with field trip to France and Italy are invited to an orientation meeting set for 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, in Classroom 103 of the Martha Miller Administration Building.

Professors Mike and Teresa Beasley will be on hand to go over details of the 10-day field trip to Paris, the Riviera and Rome, scheduled for July 5-14. Participants have the option of taking the coursework for college credit, or taking only the field trip portion of the package.

In conjunction with the field trip, Mike Beasley will teach English 2332 and 2333, World Literature I and II. Teresa Beasley will teach Communication 1318, Photography I; and Humanities 1302, a Survey of Film and Journalism. Participants wanting college credit may choose one or two of the offered courses to earn up to six hours of college credit. All coursework will be taught via WebCT through the college’s Distance Education Department.  Tuition fees are in addition to the field trip cost.

“Mike and Teresa are combining the technological wonders of distance learning, the natural wonders of a European experience, and the traditional class curriculum. It’s an amazing opportunity for our students and community,” said Ann Morris, Associate Dean of Distance Education.

Students taking the course for credit will spend half the required hours participating in the online learning, with the field trip comprising the remainder of the coursework.

Seating is limited to 30 participants. For more information contact Professor Mike Beasley at 903-693-2080, email mbeasley@panola.edu, or Teresa Beasley at 903-693-1117, email tbeasley@panola.edu, or attend the orientation session Monday night.
