Panola College will offer Western Civilization Through 1500, History 2311, with a professional tour-guided field trip to Italy and Greece from June 15 to June 24, according to Donny Seals, history professor.
"The course will focus mainly on the history of ancient Greece and Rome as well as the Renaissance, including cultural, social, political, and economic developments that helped lay the foundation for the contemporary West," Seals said.
Students taking the course for academic credit will be in the classroom half the amount of time of a traditional course while the rest of the time will focus on the trip, which will include visits to the Roman Colosseum, the Forum, Vatican City and the Acropolis, he said.
Those not taking the course for academic credit must attend a mandatory orientation meeting before departure but will not be required to attend classes prior to the trip.
Seating is limited and those interested should so contact at 903-693-2043 or by email at: dseals@panola.edu.
