PANOLA COLLEGE TO HONOR RETIREES

 

Panola College will host a retirement ceremony on Wednesday, May 4, to honor long time employees Larry Brumley, Vicki Dickerson and Bruce Richmond.   Combined, these professors have accumulated over 83 years of teaching experience.

 

Mr. Larry Brumley, Director and Conductor of choirs at Panola College, is retiring after 24 years of service. During his tenure Mr. Brumley directed the popular performing groups “The Panola Pipers” and the College Chorale. Over the years students from all walks of life have been impacted by Brumley’s good natured personality and his dedication to the performing arts.

 

Mrs. Vicki Dickerson worked at Panola College for 30 years and achieved the position of Director of Vocational Nursing. Fellow LVN instructors who worked closely with her commented that Dickerson worked hard and was dedicated to educating and preparing students to become successful licensed vocational nurses. 

 

Over the past 29 years, Mr. Bruce Richmond was employed in various capacities at the College. Richmond was hired in 1976 and quickly became a popular welding instructor. His competence and dedication to his profession earned him the “Texas Welding Teacher of the Year Award” in 1992. After spending seventeen years as a welding instructor, Richmond went back to school to become certified as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer; A+ Certified Service Technician and Cisco Certified Network Associate. Richmond retires as a Professor of Business and Computer Science.

 

“Larry, Bruce and Vicki have left an indelible mark on Panola College,” said Dr. Gregory Powell, President of Panola College. “Our community has benefited from the knowledge and skills they taught to generations of students. I am grateful for the years they dedicated to Panola College and wish them all the best as they begin this new chapter in their lives.”
