Black History Month Celebration

 

A Black History Month commemoration event is planned for February 2, 2005 at Panola College. The M. P. Baker Library, in collaboration with the Student Services Department, will host a lunchbox lecture series in the Ballroom featuring Mr. Hermon Reed, Jr. as guest speaker. The event will begin at noon and is open to the public.

 

Mr. Reed is a well known and respected member of our community. He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany for three years. After completing his military commitment he returned to Texas College where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree. Following graduation he began a long career with the Carthage ISD where he taught mathematics and science courses for 37 years. During that time he also earned a Master of Science Degree from East Texas State University. Mr. Reed is also an accomplished cattle rancher.  

 

Mr. Reed has served on numerous state and local boards including a twelve year tenure as a member of the Panola College Board of Trustees. Currently Mr. Reed is Commissioner of Panola County Precinct 3. For additional information about this event please call 903-693-1155.
