Reception for Dr. Shannon at
Shelby Regional Training Center

 

On February 2, Panola College will host a community wide reception for Dr. Joe F. Shannon, Associate Dean of Instruction. The event is scheduled from 11:00-1:30 pm at the Shelby Regional Training Center. Dr. Shannon assumed responsibility for overseeing the day-to day operations of the Shelby College Center and the Shelby Regional Training Center earlier this month.

 

Dr. Shannon received his Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science Degree from Sam Houston State University in Agricultural Sciences and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University’s Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture.

 

Dr. Shannon’s teaching experience is extensive. Shannon was Chair of the Biology and Agricultural Sciences Department at Tyler Junior College from 1992 to 2004 and Professor of Biology and Plant Sciences at Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, Kansas from 1986 through 1992.

 

Dr. Shannon’s parents are Joe and Kay Shannon of Mauriceville, Texas and he is married to Angela Lynn Shannon, a Kansas native.

 

The Shelby Regional Training Center offers instruction in welding, refrigeration, hydraulics, environmental technology and computer aided training, while the Shelby College Center provides academic and technical courses ranging from English and College Mathematics to Vocational Nursing and Cosmetology.
