PANOLA COLLEGE ADMINISTRATORS
ATTEND IUON GRAND OPENING
Dr. Lillian Cook, Panola College Vice President and Dean of Instruction, and Dr. Joe Shannon, Associate Dean of Instruction, attended the grand opening celebration of the International University of Nursing on the island of St. Kitts in the British Virgin Islands. The new nursing institution houses a state of the art lecture hall which seats approximately 300 people, as well as labs and classrooms with impressive technological equipment. A large library complements the new IUON complex.
Participating in the celebration in addition to the Governor of the island were Mr. Warren Ross, President of IUON; Dr. Robert Ross, Chairman of the IUON Board and founder of the institution; the Honorable Sam Condor, Deputy Prime Minister; and Irwin Urban, Vice Consul, U.S. Embassy.
Drs. Cook and Shannon toured the facility after the celebration and visited with students and staff of IUON. Panola College expects to receive transfer nursing students from IUON through an agreement that is part of a response to the global nursing shortage. Students who transfer to Panola College will meet the same rigorous standards as students who begin at Panola College and will live and attend classes in Carthage for the last year of their nursing training before sitting for their licensing examination.
