Self-Evaluation for Distance Learners
To insure student success we strongly encourage everyone who enrolls in a distance education course (video or Internet course) to take this quick self-evaluation to determine how appropriate these options are.
1. In general, face-to-face interaction is... a. not particularly important to me. b. somewhat important to me. c. very important to me.
2. In my previous school experiences, classroom discussion and interaction have been... a. rarely helpful for me. b. sometimes helpful for me. c. almost always helpful for me.
3. Web surfing and communication by e-mail are... a. almost second nature to me. b. things I am still learning about. c. difficult to me.
4. In general, meeting deadlines and budgeting my time is... a. easy for me. b. sometimes difficult if the project or assignment isn't interesting to me. c. difficult for me - I often need outside pressure to complete work.
5. I have used a word processor like Word or WordPerfect... a. continuously for several years now. b. once in a while, especially for school assignments. c. rarely or never.
6. When it comes to using e-mail, I... a. use it often and know how to be polite. I also can open, store, and attach files. b. know something about it and have an account. c. have no account.
