RN Refresher


RN/LVN Nurse Refresher Course - Available to residents of the Panola College service area only (due to limited clinical sites)

 

 COURSE DESCRIPTION:  This course is designed to enable a registered nurse or a vocational nurse to refresh skills needed to re-enter the nursing workforce after a period of absence.  The course is also designed to meet the requirements of the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) for a nurse who has let his/her license lapse.  It is the student’s responsibility to complete any paperwork required by the BON and to gain additional skills other than those outlined in the syllabus.

The didactic portion of the refresher course is offered through the Virtual College of Texas.  You must register for the course through Panola College's Continuing Education after getting permission from the Dean of Nursing to take the course.  For more information on the course go to: http://nurserefresher.austincc.edu/  

Typically courses are held in October, January, April, June, and August.

NOTE: The clinical portion of the course (RNSG 1060 or VNSG 1060) is offered through the nursing program at Panola College on a space available basis.  The student must obtain permission from the Dean of the Nursing and Health Science before registering for either the didactic or clinical portion.

Proof of current CPR certification (also available through Panola College Continuing Education) and current immunizations as well as a clear criminal background check are required.
