ADN Program Admission Process

Prospective students should secure an application from the Nursing Department. Deadlines for admission are March 1st and October 1st.  Applications are given out during the six weeks prior the deadlines.  Please call for an appointment (903.694.4000) and bring your Panola College transcript (unofficial is fine), your transcript evaluation, and the results of your HESI A2 (see below) to your appointment.

 Admission criteria:

  • Be fully admitted to Panola College
  • Pre-requisite 2.5 or higher grade point average (to calculate GPA: http://www.back2college.com/gpa.htm)
  • Minimum grade of "C" in:
    BIOL 2401, BIOL 2402, PSYC 2301 and CHEM 1405 or CHEM 1411
  • HESI A2 test required as part of ranking for admission  Click HERE for more information on HESI A2
  • Points are given for CNA = 1; LVN = 2
  • 4 points are given if all 4 pre-requisites are completed at Panola College
  • Drug screening is now required
  • Criminal background check will be conducted before admission
  • Enrolling in RNSG courses requires acceptance into the ADN Program or permission from the Director
  • Each science course's theory and lab must have been taken in the same semester at the same school.
  • Letter of good standing from previous professional nursing program, if applicable
  • RNSG transferred courses must have been completed within the past two years.

Admissions are limited by the number of faculty and facilities available. Students with the highest GPAs, HESI A2 scores, and most prerequisites completed (according to rank formula) will be admitted first. Graduates of both tracks are eligible to apply for Registered Nurse licensure by examination (NCLEX-RN).
