Industrial Technology is a program designed to prepare students for a career in troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining equipment in an industrial environment. The program is designed to provide students with a broad background and with basic skills in business, computing, drafting, electronics, mathematics, manufacturing processes, and welding. Instruction is offered in order to meet schedule requirements for a wide variety of students. Classes are offered during normal class schedule, at night, and on-line when practical. Rapidly changing technology requires individuals with flexible skills and the ability to learn and adapt rather than those equipped with particular technical skills; the Industrial Technology program prepares students for this ever changing environment. The curriculum was developed using employer-defined skills which are taught in a hands-on environment. The program will include laboratory training using state-of-the-art instruments, materials, and techniques employed in the industry; appropriate safety training; problem solving skills, including statistical analysis of data; effective teamwork, oral and written communication skills. Instruction is offered both in a traditional academic setting and internships are available to allow the students actual industrial experience. The program complies with the objectives and curriculum developed by the local Industrial Technology Advisory Committee.
