- Complete admission requirements to the College.
- Complete the HESI A2 admission test ($50 non-refundable test fee) with a minimum of 80 in Reading Comprehension and Math, and minimum of 75 in Grammar.
- Schedule an appointment (after the date of HESI A2) with a mentor to obtain an application to the Associate Degree Nursing program (please bring transcript evaluation and HESI A2 scores with you to the appointment).
- Students must have at least a 2.5 overall grade point average in the pre-requisite courses with a minimum grade of “C” in each course. (CHEM 1405, BIOL 2401, BIOL 2402, and PSCY 2301)
- Each science courses (theory and lab) must have been taken in the same semester and at the same school.
- Drug screening will be required.
- If you have ANY criminal background - even if it was "dismissed" or "adjudicated" you should start the Declaratory Order process early by going to www.bon.state.tx.us and downloading the D.O. forms and following the directions. THIS PROCESS CAN TAKE UP TO SIX MONTHS. You will not be admitted while the D.O. is in process.
- All RNSG courses require acceptance into the ADN program.
- Student must have a letter of good standing from previous professional nursing program (if applicable). RNSG transferred courses must have been completed within the past two years with a minimum grade of “C” in each. Note: A student who has failed two nursing courses at any professional nursing school should refer to the student handbook for information.
- Positions will be offered until class limit is met. The class limit is set by the Dean.
- Acceptance letters will be sent out after all applications have been reviewed and checked for accuracy. This process will take approximately 4 weeks after the deadline.
- Criminal Backgrounds will be checked on all applicants and only those with clear backgrounds or COMPLETED Declaratory Orders (see above) will be admitted.
- The Associate Degree Nursing Program uses a mathematical formula to compute an applicant’s ranking score. The ranking score is based on four criteria. This ranking score is used to select qualified applicants for admission into the ADN Program. The formula is as follows:
Rank: = (prerequisite GPA) x (number of prerequisite courses successfully completed) + (number of degree plan courses completed [except for Panola ONE]) + HESI points) + (bonus 1 point for each prereq at PC) + 2 points if LVN or 1 point if CNA. Note: A degree plan course with a grade of “D” will not receive a point the ranking.
HESI points are based on 10% of A2 cumulative test score (minimum 80 required in Reading Comprehension and Math and minimum 75 in Grammar): i.e.: 92 receives 9.2 points; 81 receives 8.1 points
Examples: Rank [(4.0) x (4)] + 6 + 10 + 4 + 2 = 38 (maximum points possible);
Rank: (2.5) x (4) + (8.2) + (7) = 25.2
