Special
Condition
A Special Condition Form must be completed by
students who wish to inform the Financial Aid Office of unusual
family financial circumstances. If you are selected for
verification, all required documents must be submitted to the
Financial Aid Office before your Special Condition request can be
considered.
Examples of a Special Condition might include:
Adjustments due to loss of household income
There are a variety of reasons why the income in
a household may decrease. Unemployment, a decrease in
regular earnings, or a loss of untaxed income/benefits may
occur. These can sometimes be factored in to the aid
calculation if properly documented.
If approved, income will only be adjusted ahead one year.
For example, the 2006-07 FAFSA uses 2005 tax information.
A Special Condition will only use expected income that will be
received in 2006.
Adjustments due to death of a parent or spouse
This is a particularly tragic event that we hope
none of our students experience.
But since this
dramatically changes the structure of the household, it too can
lead to possible adjustments in the aid evaluation.
