Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will I receive financial aid if I apply?

A: Most students that apply for financial aid at Panola College and meet the June 1 priority deadline are eligible to receive some type of financial assistance.

Q: Can I receive a Pell Grant and a full scholarship in the same academic year?

A: Yes.

Q: What types of student loans are available?

A: Panola College does not participate in any student loan programs. Private loans may be available through various outside sources such as:

Sallie Mae - Tuition Answer Loan (800-749-9100)

              Chase - Education One (888-661-8663)

Q: How will I receive my financial aid?

A: Students that have complete financial aid files are allowed to charge their tuition and fees, on-campus room and board, and books to their Pell Grant. Credit balances due the student are normally released from the Business Office 3-4 weeks after the official census date of each semester. Checks are then usually processed once a month each semester after that. Please contact the Financial Aid Office for more information on receiving credit balances.

Q: What is Return to Title IV?

A:  The U. S. Department of Education (USDOE) requires schools to calculate a R2T4 for students that stop attending class, or totally withdraw before the 60% point of the semester.  This could result in the school having to refund federal funds (i.e. Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant) to the USDOE.  The student is then responsible for paying the school the amount that was refunded.
