Panola Rodeo Coach
Panola College’s Rodeo Coach, Dameon White, is entering his second year as a coach on the College Circuit. In his first season as the Head Coach, Coach White’s teams finished in the top 10 in the Southern Region in the Men’s and Women’s Circuit. He also increased the Rodeo Team roster to 31 students the first year and to 39 participants in 2012-2013.
Coach White competed in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association as a student at Cisco Jr. College then at Sam Houston State University.
Dameon started rodeoing at a young age. Competing in youth, high school, college, amateur and professional rodeos, rodeo has become a way of life. Some of his accomplishments have included qualifying for state finals in high school in calf roping and team roping. Qualifying for the LRCA Finals in both events, also. In 2007, his partner and he won The Super Bowl of Team Roping.
“This is a great honor to be able to recruit and work with students trying to get an education and continue a career in rodeo,” noted Coach White. Dameon comes from a family that has all competed in rodeo. His wife, Courtney, competed at all levels including college at McNeese University and professional. She has excelled in goat tying and breakaway roping.
“We look forward to this new challenge of building a rodeo team and competing in the Southern Region of the NIRA” states Coach White.
