Sunday, 24 January 2010 06:53 PM CSTAfter coming off a one-point win against Paris last week, the Angelina Roadrunners hit a roadblock Saturday against the Panola College Ponies.
The Ponies started out strong and kept the momentum going throughout the game, beating Angelina 81-71. Raschard Boatner scored 20 points. Broc Wills added 17 points, and Louis Ellis dropped in 12.

Now 10-8 for the season, and 3-6 in Region XIV, the Ponies go on the road Wednesday, Jan. 27, to play San Jacinto at 7:30 p.m.
Panola announces youth basketball signup

Boys and girls ages 7 to 13 are eligible to participate in the Panola Youth Basketball League enrolling players now.
Cost is $50 per child and includes a t-shirt and instruction from the Panola College Men's and Women's basketball programs. Head coach Jacob Wonders and assistant coach Albert Talley will supervise Panola College basketball players as they coach the boys' youth teams. Head coach Tracey Stellato and assistant coach Andrew Fisher will coordinate the girls' youth teams.
"Give your child the opportunity to learn basketball skills from our Panola College Men's and Women's basketball student athletes," said Talley.
Practice and games will begin later in January.

Ponies fall to Paris
Thursday, 07 January 2010 01:02 PM CSTA late run by the Panola Ponies fell short when the Paris Dragons held on to a 60-58 win Wednesday, Jan. 6, in the A.J. Johnson Gym at Panola Colllege.
The Ponies cut a 10-point lead by Paris in the second half, but the clock ran out on Panola's final possession. Ondrej Palecek, a 6' 7" freshman from Opava, Czech Republic, scored 11 points. Raschard Boatner, a 6' sophomore from Monroe, La., had 10. Terry Hines, a 6' 8" freshman from Houston, played a tough defensive game, grabbing 14 rebounds for the night.
As the clock ran down, Louis Ellis, a 6' 2" sophomore from Shreveport, La., cut the Paris lead to just one point by hitting a long three-point shot from mid-court, bringing the score to 59-58.
The Ponies meet Wiley College at 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 9, at the A.J. Johnson Gym at Panola College.
