Panola College Names Building For Matthews Foundation
On Monday, December 1, 2014 Panola College Board of Trustees officially honored the Charles C. Matthews Foundation for their continuous generous donations by naming the new Student Life Center after the Foundation. The Charles C. Matthews Foundation Student Center will receive an official ribbon cutting ceremony to take place after the building’s completion in early fall 2015. The Matthews Foundation has generously awarded one million dollars to Panola College to equip fully the new Student Center currently in the construction phase. The Matthews Foundation has previously shown its support of Panola College through the creation of the Charles C. Matthews Endowed Scholarship in 2010 to assist eligible Panola County students with tuition and fees
“The Charles C. Matthews Foundation has made tremendous contributions to Panola College,” stated Dr. Gregory Powell, President of Panola College, “The naming of the new student center will provide fitting and lasting tribute to their efforts.”
The Charles C. Matthews Foundation Student Center will be approximately 53, 000 square feet to house the Student Life program. The general program elements include Student Life, the Student Success Center (Admissions/register, advising, and testing), dining (cafeteria and snack shop/concessions), ballroom/meeting rooms, Fitness Center, and College Store.
The current trustees of the Charles C. Matthews Foundation include Robert Underwood, Jim Payne, Vern Reeder, John Conway, Richard Ballenger, David Bush (also pictured Raymond Schieffer).
